New Maitland Hospital

A commission for the new Maitland Hospital, creating a suite of large-scale botanical designs to be installed on interior walls throughout the hospital, as well as signage for entry points, and a history timeline for the foyer.

A suite of native flora illustrations adding colour throughout the hospital.

A series of 10 digital illustrations of native flora indigenous to the local area was created for installation on over 200 walls within the new Hospital, breathing life and colour to all levels of the building.

The illustrations complement both the colour palette chosen by interior designers at BVN, and the plants species used in landscaping around the site by landscape designers Black Beetle.

Custom designed to fit each individual wall space and supplied to the printer for production.

Signage and information designs sharing the history of the site.

Signage applications include graphics for glass areas in the Mental Health Unit to allow for privacy, Welcome to Country signage for all entry points to the hospital, digital screens for information kiosks throughout, and history of place and artist acknowledgement signage.

A 9-metre-long history timeline of the old and the new.

A 9-metre-long hospital history timeline for the foyer was designed in collaboration with Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), Health Infrastructure (HI) & Collected Memory.

The timeline design follows the evolution of the old hospital to the new with historical photographs and captions, incorporating background graphics from Wonnarua artist Saretta Fielding’s arbour installation at the front of the building.
