Maitland City Council - Heritage Art Projection
A public art commission funded by the NSW Government to celebrate the restoration and reopening of Maitland Town Hall, highlighting historic themes and items of significance from within the building.

A vibrant interpretation of what the Town Hall has and will continue to offer Maitland’s diverse community.
The concept was to create an engaging, warm, entertaining, and accessible visual interpretation of a wide range of historic themes relating to the Maitland Town Hall. The designs needed to encompass events from throughout the building’s history and inspire a sense of excitement about all the future events and occasions that will continue to enrich the Maitland community.
It was important for this artistic interpretation to connect with those who already have strong links and memories attached to the site, as well as those yet to enjoy and experience the space.
Mixing handmade marks with digital graphics.
Using hand brushed textures mixed with a dynamic colour palette, these vibrant digital illustrations aim to enliven the space and evoke a sense of the fun and enriching experiences the Town Hall has offered the community in the past, and will continue into the future.
